What is Composite fiber?

2023-04-15

Composite fiber is a kind of multi-component fibers, which is a term for man-made fiber varieties. There are two or more immiscible polymer fibers on the same fiber cross-section, which are called composite fibers and are physically modified fibers developed in the 1960s.

By utilizing composite fiber manufacturing technology, bicomponent fibers with both polymer properties can be obtained. There are composite fibers such as parallel, skin core, and island types, with circular and irregular fiber cross-sections.

Fibers have three-dimensional curling, high fluffiness, and coverage, as well as good conductivity, antistatic properties, and flame retardancy. Composite fibers require the use of composite spinning machines with special structures for spinning. Mainly used for woolen yarn, blankets, woolen fabrics, warm fluffy filling materials, silk fabrics, non-woven fabrics, medical and health products, and special work clothes.
